Scrip Program

SCRIP – Noun. A certificate whose value is recognized by the payer and payee; SCRIP is not currency, but may be convertible into currency.

We partner with local organizations who purchase gift cards from us at 5% less than the value they are worth at the register. These organizations then sell the cards to their customers and supporters, keeping the 5% difference. It is an excellent fundraising opportunity for schools, churches, and other community groups.

From July 2013-June 2014, Bloomingfoods donated nearly $12,500 to local groups using our SCRIP program. Participating groups include: Bloomington Area Birth Services, Bloomington Chamber Singers, Bloomington Developmental Learning Center, Bloomington High School North, Children’s Corner Co-op Daycare, Cutters Soccer Club, Friends of Art Bookshop, Gaden Khachoe Shing Monastery, Habitat for Humanity, Harmony Education Center, Hoosier Youth Philharmonic, Lighthouse Academy, Lutheran Campus Ministry IU, Montessori School, St. Mark’s Preschool, Templeton Elementary School, Trinity Episcopal Church, Unitarian Universalist Church, Volunteers in Medicine, and WildCare Inc.
