Learn About our 2013 Board Candidates

The member-elected board of BCS establishes the vision and provides oversight and support to one employee, the co-op’s general manager, who is charged with the ensuring the successful operation of Bloomingfoods.

Board candidates received a nominations packet with information about the role of the BCS board. Each candidate was asked the following questions about their experience and qualifications, to help member owners make their selections. We have published their replies, exactly as submitted.

1. Why are you interested in serving on the board of BCS?

2. What experience or involvement have you had with Bloomingfoods or other cooperatives?

3. What has been your experience in working cooperatively with small groups of people (such as: being a member of a committee, sports team, or volunteer as part of a work group for any organization)?

ENDS STATEMENT – Articulated by the BCS Board of Directors

Because of BCS, people in Bloomington and South Central Indiana will have:

• A market for local, organic, and healthy products, meeting the needs of consumers and producers.

• Increased cooperative ownership that strengthens the local economy and community.

• A model of a sustainable, profitable business.

• An increased understanding of the local food system and its importance.
