Radu Lupu passed away Saturday, July 25, in Bloomington.

He was born to Todora and Ioan Lupu in Oravita, Romania, and grew up with his sister in Arad, Romania.
Radu served as a lieutenant in the Romanian army in 1979 and retired to attend University. He graduated cum laude from the Agronomic Institute in Timisoara in 1983 with a degree in Zootechnics and Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he enjoyed working as an Animal Husbandry Engineer.
In 1996, he had the great chance to move to the United States with his first wife and son and became a citizen on February 21, 2002.

Radu remarried, to his beloved Viorica, after a long-standing friendship of over 20 years, on March 15, 2006. Together they enjoyed regaling their friends with stories of the homeland, entertaining with gracious generosity, traveling, and introducing the innocent to Duica (the "Romanian Moonshine"). Radu was never more proud than when showing off, and sharing, Vio’s cooking and baking. Radu was full of joy, uplifting everyone’s spirit. He always had a joke to make you feel better. Radu was eager to help, always offering advice, always giving the first helping–hand; he always came forward with a solution, a suggestion, or a thought. He was extremely positive and always optimistic. Everyone felt comfortable confiding in him and asking for his help.

For the last ten years, Radu worked at Bloomingfoods East and will be remembered for his unstoppable work ethic, his rapport with his customers and co-workers, his quick wit and his unique sense of humor. Radu also had worked at Wendy’s and Chick-Fil-A in Bloomington.
