February Wine & Beer News from the East Store

With February, along with lots of snow and ice, come more exciting changes and great deals in the east side Bloomingfoods beer and wine department! First of all, our Create-Your-Own Six-Pack program has been so successful we’ve decided to develop the program. In order to expand the selection and increase the quality of beers available we raised the price of the Create-Your-Own Six-Pack by one dollar, making the cost $10.99. This allows us to put all our beers on the shelf and allows our customers to create a truly high quality, gourmet six-pack.

Also new in the land of beer, after many customer requests we have started selling all beers available on the Create-Your-Own shelf as single beers. This is a great way to sample beers without investing in a full six-pack or find the perfect beer to use in your favorite recipes. As always, here at Bloomingfoods our customers’ opinions are very important to us, so please let us know whether or not you like these changes by filling out a customer comment card.

Also, we have a new case stack of local beers located in the back of the store in our freezer section! Bee Creek Brewery is located in Brazil, Indiana, and makes a tasty honey wheat, a strong coffee stout, and a refreshing ale. Usually priced at $9.99 and $8.99, we are offering a discount of one dollar on each six-pack while supplies last. These beers are staff favorites so make sure to grab a six-pack before we drink them all! Looking for more than a six-pack? Head to our meat case and pick up a Spaten Variety twelve-pack for only $16.99, a savings of three dollars.

Regarding the wine department, what a wonderful start to the New Year! We have so many great values right now, including many wines with price tags of ten dollars or less. Fleur de Lyeth is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec. It offers soft, round, dark berry and stone fruit flavors that slowly build to a warm, spicy finish. This wine is truly luxurious and usually retails at $14.99! Fleur de Lyeth can be found with the Bee Creek beers in our new case stack. While checking out the new addition to the department, look for our other new value wines. Man Vintners is a South African winery run by several highly reputable wine makers. We have their Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Chenin Blanc for only $8.99, about three dollars less than the usual retail price. And as our customers that frequent our west side wine department know, California winery Le Lapin makes truly approachable, fruit forward wines, including a Petit Sirah, Zinfandel, and a red blend called Multiplicity all priced at only $7.99.

Look for Grayson Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon in our more established wine case stack located near the cheese case. Grayson Cellars Cabernet, which usually retails for $12.99 and received an 88 point rating from Robert Parker, is a full-bodied wine full of dark, ripe fruit with notes of black pepper and toasted vanilla, and we are offering it for only $9.99 a bottle. More fantastic values are the Argentine wines from Trivento. Both the smooth, herbal Malbec and the ripe, earthy Pinot Noir are priced at $8.99, a significant three-dollar discount. Lastly, don’t miss California winery Rabbit Ridge’s Allure de Robles, a full-bodied, powerful Rhone style red. At $8.99 a bottle, this rustic wine is indeed a great value.

Lastly, don’t forget how well cheese and beer and wine go together! Head over to our cheese case and look for all the delicious new domestic and imported cheeses that our cheese buyer has brought in. Don’t overlook the new wine and cheese and beer and cheese pairing ideas on top of the cheese case. Try the pairings, and let us know what you think!
