Red Hot - Salsa Contest! - It's salsa time again! For the 5th year in a row – and the 20th year of this co-op tradition – we are pleased to team up with Bloomington Parks and Recreation to co-sponsor the annual Bloomington Salsa Contest, a shakedown showdown in which we ask local judges to determine who makes the best salsa in Bloomington.

Mise en Place: Making Things Ready to Cook - We are introducing a Ready to Cook program in our prepared foods department that features items from our meat, seafood, and deli departments. It will make your meal preparation easier, faster, and more convenient!

Back to School Membership Drive - Become a Member-Owner or Recruit a Friend. We are looking for a bumper crop of new member-owners this month and next, and invite you to encourage your friends and new neighbors to join the co-op. It's a great way to put down roots in the community.

BOD: The CCMA Conference 2008 - The Consumer Cooperative Management Association (CCMA) holds an annual conference each year, attended by food co-ops from across the country.  The gathering features workshops, displays, board training, human resources panels, special interest roundtables, forums, and local tours. CCMA 2008 took place in Portland, Oregon on June 12-14, with local host People's Food Co-op.

Faces of Bloomingfoods: Justin Goellner - Livin' la Vegan Loca(l)! Cultivating a Love of Local and Seasonal Foods - Justin Goellner is the popular front end manager of Bloomingfoods East. Customers are often astonished when he tells them their member number, or remembers details of conversations from earlier trips through the check-out line. He is participating in the Eat Local America Challenge through August 15th, eating a vegan diet with local overtones.
