Green Drinks Bloomington, co-sponsored by Bloomingfoods, is a lively, informal social networking event for people from all walks of life who are interested in making a greener world. They gather every month to share libations and ideas, discuss, debate, explore and make new friends and business connections.

GDB will meet on Wednesday,  August 26 2009, from 5:30 - 8pm at the Banquet Facility of the Upland Brewing Company, 350 W. 11th Street, Bloomington, Indiana. There is a $5 suggested donation to cover the cost of light refreshments. The meeting is open to those under 21. Upland will card anyone requesting beer or wine, which is available for a nominal additional charge.

The evening's presenter is Marc Lame, author of "A Worm in the Teacher's Apple: Protecting America's School Children from Pests and Pesticides." Lame is a clinical professor in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University Bloomington. His presentation is titled “Community Pest Management in the Urban Environment: Developing Partners for the Implementation of Integrated Pest Management."

Lame will introduce the basics of Urban Integrated Pest Management and how it applies to homes, schools, municipal facilities and businesses in terms of providing a sustainable environment. Recommendations will be offered for what a community partnership might look like, and how such a partnership might be developed and fostered.
