Bloomingfoods to Open at Ivy Tech’s Main Campus
The food store, referred to as Bloomingfoods Ivy Tech, is under construction and if all goes well, will be opening soon. Here's Rodney, stocking the shelves for the new store.
This Bloomingfoods store will feature ready-to-eat food items including made-to-order sandwiches and panini, wrapped sandwiches and salads, baked goods, and a beverage service that includes coffee, tea, juices, and soft drinks. We anticipate relatively limited hours of operation — 8am to 6pm, Monday through Friday.
“Ivy Tech-Bloomington is extremely pleased to partner with this community resource to provide food services for our students, and serve as a cooperative location on the west side of town,” said Chancellor Whikehart. “While the café is designed to serve our campus, access to Bloomingfoods Ivy Tech by all students, staff, surrounding residents, Park 48, and future YMCA patrons is certainly welcomed and encouraged. What better partnership than our community college and our community food co-op.”
Bloomingfoods and Ivy Tech are sharing the development costs and as part of the partnership, Bloomingfoods has agreed to cooperate in the educational mission of Ivy Tech-Bloomington to provide staff support to train and educate students in nutrition and other related subjects.
We pleased to be able to partner with Ivy Tech to provide a cooperative natural food retail outlet on the Ivy Tech Campus that will allow us to serve not only Ivy Tech students, staff, and faculty, but others who live, work, and visit the westside of Bloomington. We look forward to partnering with our local community college to serve up healthy food and cooperative values to the west side of town.
