UPDATE ON TEAMS
The four incredible teams who have taken on building this project have given of their time and talents immeasurably in the past few weeks.  Thank you one and all.

*Operations*
The awesome Operations Team has had a busy few weeks!  Please check out a beautiful design for our Orchard created by Jack Brubaker, soon to be uploaded to our Facebook page.  In addition, the Operations Team has divided into several sub-committees, including Plant Selection, Design, and Soil Improvement, and Volunteer Coordination.  Great work is being done to investigate all the different elements we need to bring together to create a successful orchard.

Lee Huss, Bloomington's Urban Forester, decided that this year's official Arbor Day tree will be in our Orchard!  The Plant Selection sub-committee recommended to Lee that we plant a native paw-paw, which will be donated to us by the City along with a nice commemorative limestone plaque.  In addition, Lee established a designation in the Bloomington Tree Fund for the Community Orchard, so monetary donations for the Orchard can now be made by calling 812-349-3498 or see http://bloomington.in.gov/media/media/application/pdf/6134.pdf
Thank you, Lee!

The next Operations Team meeting will be Monday, March 15th at 5:30 pm in the McCloskey Room at City Hall.  Please join us!

*Administrative*
The Administrative Team is nearly done drafting a set of bylaws to put before the group.  This governing document will establish a structure by which Orchard decisions will be made.  Stay tuned for more details soon.  Quick and efficient work, team!

*Communications*
The Communications Team has finished setting up list-serves for the individual teams to use for internal communication, and is in the process of establishing a place for the group to store documents so that everyone can access all meeting minutes and other pertinent pieces of information.  If you would like to be added to a particular team's listserv, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. *Finance*
We have these lovely folks to thank for getting us so far in the process with the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation grant!  Now, the Finance Team is in the process of applying for the "Bloomington in Bloom" grant from the Bloomington Board of Realtors.  The team is applying for money to be put towards fencing for our Orchard.

Thank you for being part of this inspiring community.

Best,
Amy Countryman
