We're pleased to report that we've been working recently with a resourceful and excited group of folks in Columbus who are making great progress in the establishment of their own cooperative grocery, Columbus Cooperative Grocery & Market. This past Saturday the city generously closed down a downtown street to permit them to conduct a membership drive.
It was a beautiful fall day, and many turned our to learn more about the project, to become members, and to enjoy the live music, the work of local craftsmen, the delicious vegetarian paella (complements of Bloomingfoods member Max Lemli, operating the biggest wok I've ever seen), Mexican food, Middle Eastern food, hot coffee from local roaster Eluna Gourmet Coffee, and cool local cider from Apple Works. Here are a few images from a wonderful afternoon. And don't miss a chance to lend to this project your own moral and financial support, as your circumstances and inclinations suggest. It's great to see the co-op business model thriving in our own part of the world.
