35th Anniversary Wine Event

Bloomingfoods 35th Anniversary Wine Tasting
Tincho Cocktails – and more! – on the patio of Bloomingfoods East

Over 21? Please join us on the patio of Bloomingfoods East  from 5pm to 8pm on Saturday, July 16. We’ll have live music, food, and over thirty wines available for tasting. Wind up the festivities of the annual Bloomingfoods MAD CAD Day with this special celebration in honor of the member-owners and customers who have made Bloomingfoods your locally-grown community owned grocery for the past 35 years.

Some of the wine highlights include three from Bouchaine Vineyards: Chardonnay, Carneros Pinot Noir, and Bouche d’Or desert Chardonnay.

Bouchaine Vineyards, the oldest continually operated family-owned winery in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, has earned the Napa Valley Green Certification, an endorsement of their sustainable farm practices.

We’ll pair Bouchaine Chardonnay with Delice de Mon Sire, a creamy, smooth and deliciously rich Brie. The tropical fruit and peach flavors of the Chardonnay compliment the rich cheese, while the bright acidity of the wine cuts right through the Brie’s dense texture, leaving your palette fresh and ready for another bite.

Try the Bouchaine Caneros Pinot Noir with Bloomingfoods Raw Milk Cheese, made especially for us by Ludwig Farmstead Creamery near Fithian, Illinois.  This semi-hard slightly nutty artisan cheese has a sea salt flavor that compliments the lush fruit of the Pinot Noir. Other featured cheeses include a Spanish blue and an American-aged cheddar.

Bouchaine’s Bouche d’Or, or Taste of Gold, refers to this wine’s amber color and luscious, sweet honey-apricot fragrance. Seasoned with a touch of aromatic Riesling, this special late harvest Chardonnay is delicate in weight and smooth in texture.

¿Qué es un Tincho? We’re excited to offer a new-to-us wine from Argentina, New Age, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Malvasia. With an alcohol content of only 9%, this wine is semi-sweet and slightly effervescent, featuring aromas of fresh flowers and citrus. We will be serving New Age over ice with a slice of lime. This crisp and delicious cocktail, called Tincho in Argentina, is perfect for beating the summer heat.

All day on July 16th we are offering a 15% discount on purchases of six bottles of wine or more. The wine tasting, which is confined to our patio, is of course limited to those 21 and older. Please come prepared to show your identification, whatever your age. The $5 entry fee benefits Meals on Wheels, with donations in higher amounts accepted and greatly appreciated.
