What a spectacular time of year! The store looks great inside and out; we’re excited about the upcoming Truckload sale this week and have brought in some new items we’d like to share with you.
Maybe the most exciting are the new GT Dave’s Chia Kombucha flavors! The 16 oz. glass bottles of raspberry, grape and cherry Kombucha feature chewy chia seeds suspended in a handmade Chinese tea that’s rich in active enzymes, probiotics, amino acids and antioxidants. They have become an instant hit with the B’foods staff!!
Maybe the second most exciting is the addition of Jared’s Farm Fresh Eggs to our local egg selection. I’ve met Jared (pictured left) and his grandparents, who operate Green Pastures Farm right here in Bloomington. Jared is nine years old and, last year, asked for chickens as his birthday present. I asked Jared if he does all the work taking care of his animals and – I mean it – he stood up straighter, kind of puffed his chest and, with a smile, said, “Yeah all of it, with a little help.” I’m looking forward to this relationship!
Maybe the third most exciting new product is actually a line of products from a company called Tea Forte. We’ve set up their beautiful cabinet display in the tea aisle, across from the bulk coffee grinder. Take a look! Beautiful teas including tea for skin care; organics; iced; loose and bagged: green, white, roobios, herbal, black; tea ware; and functional tea mints! The packaging is beautiful, too. Here’s an interesting recipe from the Tea Forte website:
White Ginger Pear Poached Tilapia
2 cups boiling water 2 White Ginger Pear pyramid infusers
1 green onion , coarsely chopped 2-4 thin slices fresh ginger (about 2 inches each) 1 1/4 pounds fillets of tilapia or cod or flounder
In 2-cup glass measuring cup, pour water over White Ginger Pear pyramid infusers and brew 5 minutes. Remove infusers; set aside.
In a 12-inch skillet, bring tea, green onion and ginger to a boil over high heat. Add fillets. Reduce heat to low and simmer covered 6 minutes or until fish flakes with a fork. Remove fillets to serving platter and sprinkle, if desired, with chopped green onion.
