The class provides an introduction to a variety of cover cropping methods and theories. A team of orchard educators will cover the ways in which different cover crops feed and improve the soil, protect the soil as living mulch, attract beneficial insects, and more.

Peilin Chiu teaches you to cook healthy Asian fusion food by using primarily organic, local, whole food ingredients from the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market. The hands-on class features three dishes from Japan, China, and Thailand, cooked in a nutritious East-meets-West style.

Join MHC and start planning now for a fall and winter harvest! Learn how to make a calendar to know when to start your seeds, and methods of overwintering or covering vegetables when the frost comes. This class is open to the public, with priority given to MHC patrons and volunteers. Learn how you can preserve the fresh, local, market produce all winter long. Join MHC's Kayte Young and Carl Pearson for a canning demonstration at the Farmer's Market. They will go through all the steps, and offer recipes and other resources to get you started on your own canning projects. You'll find this event on the circular stage in the market, near the Showers Plaza, as part of the Market's Chefs on Stage series. No registration required, just drop by!
