At the Boys & Girls Club of Ellettsville, we strive to empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as caring, productive, and responsible citizens in a safe environment. -Mission Statement
For more than a year, the Ellettsville Boys and Girls Club has been running a Food of the Month program. Starting October 2013, Bloomingfoods will sponsor the program with a monthly fruit or vegetable donation. The goal of the program is to give kids the opportunity to try new foods and to educate each other about cooking and nutrition.
One of the Ellettsville Boys and Girls Club’s goals is to let kids generate programming ideas. For example, those who participate in the Club’s cooking club get to prepare “food facts” about nutrition, preparation, and fun facts that they then share with the other members of the Club through educational posters, announcements, and trivia. This child-driven model provides a unique sense of ownership to the club members.
This November, Bloomingfoods is partnering with Mother Hubbard's Cupboard to host the 10th annual "Share the Harvest Campaign. Proceeds will provide healthy, fresh food to people in need. Every dollar will mean 10 more pounds of food going to families in need.
There are THREE ways to give when you are in any of our stores: 1. Add a donation to your transaction total. 2. Donate your spare change. 3. Write a check to MHC. Just tell your cashier you want to make a contribution when you are in the store!
We’ve partnered with Indiana University’s Friends of Art Bookshop. Nestled within the School of Fine Arts, the shop boasts a one of a kind book selection, as well as art supplies, posters, calendars, paper goods and handmade gifts. From rare art books to Moleskine journals, the Bookshop offers an opportunity for academic and artistic growth for all. As a non-profit, the mission of Friends of Art is to support the School of Fine Arts and its students through fundraising, education, and social engagement in the wider community. Every year, they provide over $30,000 in scholarships and grants for students, as well as funding for the Fine Arts Library, the Grunwald Gallery of Art, and student organizations. Support the arts next time you’re on campus and enjoy the 10% discount for Bloomingfoods member-owners!
