Customer Appreciation Day

Save more money on our annual Member and Customer Appreciation day!

ImageIt’s always a bit loco on MAD CAD Day, our anniversary celebration in July when we show our appreciation for member-owners and customers. Held on Saturday, July 17 this year, it’s an additional Member-Owner Day, with an extra 5% discount for everyone. That translates to a one-day 10% discount on purchases for member-owners, and a 5% discount for other customers. And here’s a tip: if you haven’t yet joined the co-op, you can recoup a nice chunk of your $90 equity share cost just by joining now and shopping on MAD CAD Day.

But wait: there’s more. In the past we’ve offered up 30+ local specials, to mark the number of years we’ve been open since 1976. This year we decided: what the heck – everything local should be on sale! You’ll see an extra 10% off all of the many local items we carry: from fresh produce to local meats, dairy, bulk, grocery and cheese. There’s an extra 10% off local items in the garden center, too.

We love all the great local products we have available in the store and this is a great opportunity to showcase all the dedicated local vendors who sell their products at the co-op. Look for the signs advertising local specials and come prepared to meet some of the our providers who will be on hand at both the East and Near West Side locations.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 17 and join the fun on MAD CAD Day 2010. The stores will be hopping, the aisles will be rocking, and the locavores will be having a field day!

Local Author Book Signings at MAD-CAD

We're pleased to announce that we'll have several distinguished local authors on-site in our stores on Member Appreciation Day, Saturday, July 17th, to provide personally signed copies of their books. The books will be offered at special low prices for this event, so stop in, meet the authors, and pick up some fine books to add to your libraries or to give as gifts.

Here is the schedule for signings:

Jennifer Meta Robinson: The Farmers Market Book

MAD CAD! Prizes! Samples! Giveaways!

ImagePrizes, giveways, super discounts -- our annual Member and Customer Appreciation Day (MAD CAD) is a lot of fun. The co-op was started in July of 1976 and we celebrate our birthday, every year, with MAD CAD day.

We are offering the usual MAD CAD discounts:
Member-Owners get an extra special, one day only, 10% discount when they shop. Not a member? Never fear - we have some Co-op love for you too - enjoy a 5% discount for the day!

In addition to the discounts, you can enter to win some pretty cool prizes, including a rain barrel (complete with optional delivery and installation by the fabulous Pete Kinne!) a new coffee pot (donated by local roaster Partridge and Quigley), a Chef's Dinner for two prepared by one of our amazing kitchens, or an assortment of gift baskets that feature garden, kitchen, and body care items.

Local vendors will be on site sampling their products and all local items will be on sale for an additional 10%off. Our deli staff will be grilling out, and staff will be sporting some excellent costumes!

Stop in and celebrate with us! See you there.

Garden Gala and Bloomingfoods Beer Tasting: Funds Raised for Mother Hubbard's Cupboard

Stephanie Solomon (right) poses with local legend Charlotte Zietlow at the Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard Garden Gala, held on June 25, 2011 at the Banneker Community Center Garden. Solomon works for Mother Hubbard's as Garden and Nutrition Education Program Coordinator; she also helped form the Bloomington Food Policy Council. The Bloomingfoods East deli contributed a platter of local cheeses to the event.
