Our Elm Heights Grand Opening Celebration was a huge success. As part of the day, our produce team hosted a Pumpkin Carving Contest and we awarded prizes to adults and kids.
One of our winners was brand new to pumpkin carving!
Azadeh Nematzadeh, left, watches Omar Sosa Tzec, carve a pumpkin October 26 during the Elm Heights Grand Opening celebration. Tzec took first place in the adult pumpkin carving contest. Tzec said it was his first time carving a pumpkin.
At our Elm Heights Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, October 26, three-year-old Josephine Barlow won the coveted Yuba Boda Boda—“the world’s lightest and most compact cargo bike,” to quote Yuba’s slogan. Perfect for a family ride on the town, Josephine and her mom Kayleen can go all sorts of places together, including make a trip to Bloomingfoods and haul groceries home.
In addition to making this give away possible, our wonderful community partners Revolution Bike and Bean were kind enough to set up shop at the Grand Opening, answering questions about the Boda Boda and selling bike swag on-site. This partnership has enhanced our commitment to sustainability and wellness, as Bike and Bean also helped sponsor the bike rack at Elm Heights. Be sure to take advantage of the ten percent discount that Bloomingfoods member-owners receive on Bike and Bean merchandise and services!
We love forging community partnerships like the one we have with Bike and Bean because they allow us to give back to our member-owners and to say thank you for making the Elm Heights dream a reality. Congratulations to Josephine and Kaylee and may you make many memories together on your new bike!
Our Partnership: Our community partner Revolution Bike and Bean has generously sponsored the new bike rack at the Elm Heights store. They were also the force behind the bike giveaway on Member-owner/Customer Appreciation Day and the Elm Heights Grand Opening celebration (http://yubabikes.com/bikes/boda-boda/). In addition to offering a 10% discount on goods and services for Bloomingfoods member-owners, Bike and Bean hosts bike maintenance classes for a bargain price.
This month you might notice some small changes at the coffee bar. We’re getting new porcelain and paper cups, which will streamline our size options. We’re also working diligently to improve our consistency behind the bar, thereby ensuring that the cappuccino you get in the morning is the same cappuccino you get in the afternoon.
Now that the weather is cooling, off we’re serving a lot more Bloomingfoods Chai (made better with a shot of espresso or a little chocolate). We’re also serving local Musgrave Cider that has been mulled to perfection with a robust blend of spices. It’s delicious steamed to order with some caramel and whipped cream.
